Throughout my first ten years at DuPont, I had always made it known to HR, my supervisors, and anyone who would listen that I wanted an international assignment. Every year, during my personnel review, I made sure my desire to work overseas was noted. Working hard and performing well, I developed a solid track record of delivering new business and customer sales that spoke for itself. The Journey Continued (2)

When an opportunity to work in the firm’s Indian affiliate arose, I volunteered for it, which caught the eye of many senior leaders, including the CEO. Although the Indian assignment never materialized, this got the ball rolling for me to be interviewed for assignments in Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. During my first few years at Burson-Marsteller, I worked with a variety of clients with many different issues to build as broad a skill set as possible.
